How we research our guides
How we research our guides
Lemon laws are state statutes, and they change. This page explains where our information comes from.
Sources
Each state page is built from the statute on the legislature's website and from the state's own guide, usually by the attorney general or consumer protection office. Each page lists its sources and links to the statute.
How we check
- Every state page is researched and then checked by a second reviewer against the statute.
- Numbers (months, miles, repair attempts, days) are taken from the statute. Where an official guide disagrees with the statute, we follow the statute.
- Where we could not confirm something, we say so instead of guessing.
